So you may or may not have read about Alec Baldwins twitter rant. It unfortunately was homophobic or hate speech. Now is twitter the correct place to rant and rave, and then to public attach someone. The undertones or blatant reference to gay people is not for twitter Mr Baldwin. Then to top off it he says he supports gay marriage.
Here is the article and you make your own conclusions.
Actor Alec Baldwin went on another loose-cannon Twitter rant on Friday, following a report from the Daily Mail that claimed his wife Hilaria was tweeting during the funeral for James Gandolfini on Thursday. The former 30 Rock actor blasted the tabloid and called the writer a “queen,” which had critics calling Baldwin homophobic. Baldwin later apologized for the comment and said he supports the gay community.
“My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone’s sexual orientation,” Baldwin told GLAAD in a statement. “My anger was directed at Mr. Stark for blatantly lying and disseminating libelous information about my wife and her conduct at our friend’s funeral service. As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize.”
He continued, saying that he is fully supportive of the LGBT community. “I have worked, periodically, with numerous marriage equality organizations, especially over the past couple of years, to achieve the very rights that gay couples are earning by recent court decisions,” the actor wrote. “I would not advocate violence against someone for being gay and I hope that my friends at GLAAD and the gay community understand that my attack on Mr. Stark in no way was the result of homophobia.”
GLAAD Vice President of Communications Rich Ferraro accepted the apology, but again noted that there is still a lot of work to do. “”As we all work to end such senseless acts of violence, allies like Baldwin are right to use these moments to reinforce support for the community and LGBT equality,” Ferraro wrote.
As we previously reported, Baldwin wound up deleting his entire Twitter profile because of his latest rant, in which he also wrote, “George Stark, you lying little b**ch. I am gonna f%#@ you up.” Hilaria also called Stark out on Twitter, calling it “poor journalism.”
The Daily Mail was also criticized by others on social media, who suggested that the British tabloid didn’t do its homework, since Hilaria’s tweets were in a different time zone.
